Golden Girl
Vibrant and alive is how I see her,
this comical skulking pile of fur.
Her brown eyes peer from under the rug.
Like some giant garden bug.
With her innocent pranks and antics
She gets her licks and kicks,
With her big brown eyes,
she can successfully hypnotize.
She talks to us in a low toned howl,
with just a smattering of growl.
Combined with swinging tail and muzzled bite,
she turns smiling in circles to the left or right.
Late at night she heads for her bed,
with a bed time cookie as big as her head.
She'll sleep the good sleep in doggy land,
'til morning drops its wakeful hand.
Another new day will find her stealing a shoe,
for what's a golden retriever to do.
Just look into those soft brown eyes.
Those eyes that will surely hypnotize.
